On March 22, 2006 Southwest Energy announced that it had signed an agreement with Allco Finance Group Limited that will allow SWE to immediately proceed with the construction of SWE's 46-million- gallon-per-year ethanol plant to be built here. Southwest Energy has completed phase one of their ethanol plant, located four miles west of McCook at the Perry site. Phase one consisted of the construction of a $2 million research and development facility. At the end of May 2004 it started producing motor fuel grade ethanol at sufficient levels to quality for the Nebraska ethanol incentives. Phase two of the project, which is expected to be functioning by Spring of 2005, will include the construction of a 40 million gallon ethanol plant that will employ approximately 40 people and will produce motor fuel grade ethanol, distillers dry grains and distillers wet grains. |
