| MEDC Housing Development- Strategic Plan of Action for Housing Development Partnering with Melissa Miller-Atwood of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka, the initial MEDC Housing Committee gathered facts on the communitys housing situation. Based on their findings, the group developed a "Housing Profile and Needs Assessment" for McCook and Red Willow County in December, 2002. Over a course of five months, Miller-Atwood conducted five well-attended community meetings. Together with a group of community leaders, the city's housing needs were determined, and a "Strategic Plan of Action for Housing Development" was created. To meet these goals and objectives, the MEDC Housing Development Office was added as a department of the McCook Economic Development Corporation in January, 2003. Mary Seybold was added to the MEDC staff in September 2007 as MEDCs full-time Housing Development Director. Since that time, grants from both the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority have been received to help cover the start up costs of the office, which serves Red Willow County. |
