Vote YES Three Times



By voting YES for the existing 1 cent city sales tax you will reduce property taxes and maintain funding for future projects.

  • Cost of sales tax is shared by the region.
  • 1/2 of the sales tax goes to pay down property taxes ($650,000).
  • 1/2 goes toward projects recommended by the City to residents ($650,000). Projects completed by using the sales tax include: Ball Park Lighting, Pool & Bathhouse Renovation, various Street Improvements, Heritage Senior Center Expansion, Transfer Station, Fire Truck, Norris Park Bandshell Roof, Ionic Water Treatment Plant and Auditorium Improvements.

By voting YES for the 1/2 cent sales tax for economic and community development you will stabilize McCook's population and grow our economy.

  • City of McCook will utilize 50% ($325,000) for city-wide improvements such as:
    • Demolition of blighted buildings.
    • Improve streets and parks.
    • Buy down debt on water and sewer improvements.
  • McCook Economic Development Corporation will utilize the other 50% ($325,000) to execute the program described in Ballot Question No. 3.

By voting YES for the Economic Development Plan you will allow funds collected by the sales tax to be used for economic development.

  • Rehab Keystone Hotel into a mixed use entrepreneurship and business center.
  • Provide assistance for expansion of existing businesses.
  • Recruit businesses to create new jobs and capital investment.
    Ex.: Valmont & Work Ethic Camp
  • Provide assistance for retail businesses.
  • Recruit businesses to fill vacant buildings.
  • Develop aggressive entrepreneurship and new business program.
  • Create opportunities for youth and young adults.

How will the plan work?

  • Citizens Advisory Review Committee will review the operations.
  • McCook City Council maintains oversight of funds.
  • McCook Economic Development Corporation will administer the plan.

All three must pass to move forward
with economic development.
